Conwy Castle

Conwy Castle is a towering medieval fortress in the heart of Conwy, built by Edward I and now managed by Cadw as one of Wales's most striking heritage attractions. The curtain walls, towers and ground-floor chambers survive in remarkable condition and the site opens daily from 09:30 to 17:00 with paid admission.

Between 4 November and 28 February, dogs on short leads are welcome to explore the ground-floor levels alongside you, making it a proper winter day out when most castles shut their doors to ordinary pets. From March to October, access is limited to assistance dogs only, so plan accordingly if you're visiting in the warmer months.

There's pay-and-display parking immediately outside the visitor centre and Conwy itself is compact and walkable once you arrive. The seasonal access window is specific, but if you're in North Wales during the colder half of the year, it's a rare chance to bring your dog inside a working piece of history rather than leaving them tied up outside.
