Meynell Langley Gardens is a long-established nursery and garden centre set in the Kirk Langley countryside between Buxton and Ashbourne. The plant stock runs deep, covering bedding, perennials, shrubs and seasonal favourites and there's an on-site tea room for those who need a sit-down after a slow lap of the benches.

Dogs are welcome to join you around the outdoor plant displays, making it a straightforward stop when you're heading through the Derbyshire lanes with the dog in tow. The layout is open-air nursery rather than enclosed shopping aisle, so leads stay untangled and noses stay entertained.

It's the kind of place that works for a proper browse rather than a quick dash and you won't need to leave anyone sulking in the car. Useful for Buxton-based dog owners looking to pick up something green without the town-centre scrum.
