Days Out Are For Dogs Too

You’ll spot our Recommended Partner badge on some listings (opposite the venue name)
That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Newhailes House & Gardens is an established National Trust Scotland estate set 6 miles south-east of Edinburgh. The property opens as a day-out destination with woodland walks, a café, shop and courtyard facilities, making it a solid choice for Edinburgh dog owners seeking a managed estate rather than a generic park. Dogs on short leads are welcome across the estate's public outdoor areas, including woodland and field spaces.
The café, shop and stables courtyard also welcome well-behaved dogs on leads. Keep them under control near working farm fields and where agricultural equipment is in use and stick to signed paths where restrictions apply. Admission charges apply to the house and estate, with parking available on-site (charges for non-members).
House tours operate by booking. The estate walk and outdoor areas remain accessible during standard opening hours, making it a practical half-day or full-day spot for a working dog day out near the city.
