Nunney Castle is a ruined moated castle near Frome where dogs on leads are welcome around the open site. Managed by English Heritage, the ruins stand dramatically within a deep moat and offer a straightforward outdoor history stop for dog owners exploring the Somerset countryside. Access is free and the site is open any reasonable time during daylight hours, so you can drop in when it suits your walk.

The compact ruins and moat-side setting make for a quick visit and leads are required throughout. Walls must not be climbed and the moat has steep sides, so keep a firm hold if your dog is curious.

An English Heritage car park is available and there's additional village parking nearby. It's an uncomplicated medieval ruin day out with outdoor access only, ideal when you want a brief heritage pause without indoor navigation.
