Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is one of the finest tree collections in the UK, set across 600 acres of Gloucestershire countryside near Tetbury. Open daily from 9am to 4.30pm, it offers dog owners two distinct areas for walking: Silk Wood, where dogs can run off-lead under close control and The Downs, where they're welcome on-lead. Dogs are also allowed on leads in the shop and some outside catering areas.
The Old Arboretum, Welcome Building, restaurant, offices, play areas and most events are dog-free, so this is best treated as an outdoor woodland day out rather than an all-access visit. Silk Wood gives your dog proper running space among wild-planted trees and winding paths, while The Downs offers more formal planted collections to explore at a steadier pace.
Pre-booking is strongly advised, especially during the autumn colour season when demand is high. Parking is managed through the booking system.

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome off-lead in Silk Wood and on leads on The Downs, plus on leads in the shop and some outside catering areas. They're not permitted in the Old Arboretum, Welcome Building, restaurant, offices, play areas or events unless stated.
