Bailiffgate tells the story of 10,000 years of history of Alnwick. Located in a Grade 2 listed church. It’s a welcoming, accessible and inspiring place to visit run by a friendly and creative team of volunteers. A wide range of events, activities and exhibitions take place throughout the year. You will find 2 floors of the museum which display artefacts which take you through the history of Alnwick and a top floor gallery space which displays a changing programme of temporary exhibitions so pop back again to see what’s new!
We are happy to welcome any well-behaved dogs on leads to Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery, especially to our permanent Museum displays. However, there are certain times, or temporary exhibitions in the gallery that are off-limits to dogs, e.g., if there is a school group visit, if textile wall hangings reach near to floor level or there are toys and games/ costumes at floor level. In those instances, we ask visitors with dogs to take turns to visit the upstairs gallery. If a visitor is alone with a dog and the museum is not busy, some of our volunteers are happy to look after small dogs behind the front desk for a short time.
