Herstmonceux Castle

Herstmonceux Castle is rich in history dating back to the 15th Century, commissioned by Sir Roger Fiennes, Treasurer to the Household of Henry VI. The moated castle was purchased and then gifted to Queen’s University, Canada by industrialist and philanthropist Alfred Bader and his wife Isabel.

Relax and Eat
The Castle Café and Terrace provides fantastic coffee and cake, but why not enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace with the castle as your backdrop?

Once you have a day ticket or membership, you are free to access all areas of the gardens and grounds with your dog. We politely ask owners to keep their dogs on a lead and, of course, to clean up any dog mess. A water bowl for your dog is kept outside our cafe tearoom.
