Welcome to Charlie’s Cafe Bar.

We are a well established business in the South Lakes town of Kendal offering great quality, locally sourced food and drink to our customers.

According to the Kendal Civic Society, the building that is now Charlie’s Cafe Bar was owned during the Stuart rebellion of 1745 by Justice Thomas Shepherd.

It was slept in by Bonnie Prince Charlie during his advance on London and again during his retreat. His pursuer, the Duke of Cumberland, slept in the same bed on the following night.

These days we serve freshly prepared sandwiches and salads, omelettes, Welsh rarebit with a variety of toppings and all day breakfasts. Plus, your four legged friend is very welcome to join you as you relax inside or outside in our beautiful garden area.
