The New Union

Cosy up by the open fire or hang out in the beer garden and enjoy a pint of craft keg, real ale, natural cider or a warming dram of whisky…we’re dog friendly too!

Formerly a ‘jack shop’, The New Union was established as an Inn in 1823 and is one of the oldest coaching houses in Kendal before being turned into a pub.

Current owner Phil Walker took over the establishment in 2017, and since then the pub has become a real hub for the local community. We host lots of specialist events, including whisky nights, beer festivals and live music.

Why are we so special?
