That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Aikton Arms is a traditional countryside pub with that proper “worth the detour” feel. Set in a quiet village setting, it leans into classic pub warmth, cosy interiors, a real fire, and that relaxed, community-led atmosphere where you can settle in without any rush.

Food is a big part of the draw, with home-cooked dishes made from locally sourced ingredients and a regularly changing specials board, so there’s always something a little different alongside the classics. It’s the kind of place where meals feel generous, comforting and made with care rather than fuss.

There’s a strong “proper pub” energy running through it too, whether you’re there for a meal, a pint or just a slower evening by the fire. It’s simple, welcoming and built around doing the basics really well.

Dogs are welcome inside, so they can join you while you settle in, likely finding the cosiest spot in the room before you do 🐾
