Tucked into Ambleside’s old mill yard beside the famously tiny Bridge House, Ambleside Tap Yard is a brilliant Lake District stop for craft beer, big flavours, and that satisfying “we’ve earned this” feeling. Their beer is brewery-fresh and served straight from six large copper tanks displayed above the bar, with plenty of other local, national and international options too, so everyone’s thirst gets a fair shot at happiness.

Food is equally tempting. Expect quality wood-fired, hand-stretched pizzas, gourmet burgers, and sharing deli boards built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It’s perfectly placed near popular Lake District walking routes too, which makes it ideal for fuelling up before the fells or recovering afterwards while your dog performs their signature move: collapsing dramatically like they did all the uphill bits.

Dog Policy:

Dogs welcome inside the bar area. Water bowls are available outside, and dogs should be kept close and well-behaved, especially when it’s busy and hot pizza is doing its seductive thing.
