That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Just outside Chester on Sealand Road, Andy’s Plants is one of those brilliantly unpolished, genuinely good-value garden centres where you come for “a couple of plants” and leave wondering how your car filled itself. It’s packed with colour, seasonal stock, and a constantly changing mix of plants that keeps things interesting every time you visit.

It’s part of a wider little hub of independent businesses, so there’s more going on than just plants — think garden bits, a café nearby, and that easy, wander-around feel where you’re not rushed and no one’s hovering.

The whole place leans into friendly, helpful, and refreshingly down-to-earth. It’s less polished showroom, more “have a browse, ask questions, take your time”… which somehow makes it even better. You’ll likely leave with plants, probably advice, and possibly something you didn’t plan on buying but now absolutely needed.

And yes — dogs are very much part of the outing. This is one of those spots where a dog walk quietly turns into a plant shop detour, and nobody’s complaining about it.
