Hidden down a fairy-lit alleyway in the centre of York, Ate O’Clock feels like a little discovery once you step through the archway. The restaurant mixes a warm, relaxed atmosphere with bistro-style dining, serving modern British and European dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

Inside, there are several cosy dining spaces plus a courtyard that works well for both summer evenings and snug winter meals. Menus range from steaks and classic comfort dishes to vegetarian and vegan options, making it a versatile stop whether you’re celebrating, catching up with friends, or simply refuelling after sightseeing in the city.

Dogs are welcome in selected areas and tables, so it’s worth planning ahead, but you can still enjoy the experience together. Water bowls and doggy treats are provided, adding a thoughtful touch for four-legged guests.

Good to know:

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside. Bring a settled café companion rather than a table-hovering snack inspector and everyone should have a lovely time.
