Avon Valley Nature Reserve is a boardwalk-and-meadow nature reserve in Salisbury, open at all times and managed as part of the city's open-spaces network. Dogs are welcome across the reserve, which follows the river past reedbeds and into meadows, making it a calm, year-round dog walk right beside the Five Rivers Leisure Centre.
The boardwalk keeps paws and boots above the wettest ground and the open setting gives plenty of space for sniff breaks without tangling the lead round strangers. The route is quiet enough for reactive dogs and rewarding enough for scent-driven terriers who treat every reedbed like a detective case.
There's no visitor centre or café on-site, so bring your own supplies and check the reserve page before you travel for any seasonal changes. It's a straightforward destination when you want fresh air, slow loops and the kind of river-edge calm that lets everyone properly unwind.
