Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings

Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings in Bromsgrove is a 19-acre open-air heritage museum where well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome to explore the grounds and tearoom alongside you. With over 30 reconstructed historic buildings spanning 700 years of English architecture — from a medieval timber-framed town house to a 1940s prefab and the National Telephone Kiosk Collection — it's a proper day out for curious dogs and their history-loving humans. The museum opens Wednesday to Sunday during school holidays and on Wednesdays and weekends in term time, 10am to 4pm, with autumn and winter hours running to 3pm.

Dogs are welcome inside the tearoom on leads, so you can refuel together without the usual back-and-forth to the car. The tearoom serves freshly made sandwiches, soup, hot savouries, cakes and drinks, closing 30 minutes before the museum and switching to takeaway-only from 3pm. A miniature steam railway, wildflower meadow and period gardens add plenty of sniff-worthy ground to cover between the buildings. Free parking on site — with an overflow area for busier days — keeps the logistics simple when you're juggling leads, bags and tickets.

Access to the indoor historic buildings isn't part of the dog-friendly offer here, but the grounds and tearoom together give dogs and their people a full and unhurried day out. It's a thoughtful mix of outdoor heritage exploration and a proper pit-stop for both ends of the lead.
