Balloo Woodland is a compact nature reserve just outside Bangor, managed by Ulster Wildlife and open to visitors and their dogs all year round. Dogs are welcome on a lead throughout the reserve's public paths, which include a short 0.4-mile accessible trail through woodland and wetland habitat. The reserve is best suited to a quick outdoor stop rather than a full-day outing, but the formal paths and seasonal wildlife make it a pleasant break if you're in the area.

Best months for wildlife interest run from May to September. There are three entrances from Balloo Avenue and Balloo Drive, accessed via kissing gate, open chicane or open gate. Parking is roadside only along Balloo Avenue or Balloo Drive.

There's a turning circle and a little more space at one of the Balloo Avenue entrances, but no dedicated visitor car park. The reserve is open at all times and dogs are required to stay on a lead throughout.
