Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest

Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is a major Forestry England visitor destination set across woodland and parkland near Goudhurst, about 17 miles from Rye by road. Dogs are welcome in the wider forest and must be kept on a lead in the car park, National Pinetum and play areas. Well-behaved dogs are also allowed in the visitor centre atrium and information point, though the café seating remains dog-free.

The site opens daily from 08:00 except Christmas Day, with closing times that vary seasonally. Official visitor parking is on site with charges and accessible spaces; you pay on exit. Dogs are not allowed on the singletrack mountain bike trails.

It's a practical choice when you want miles of forest trails, seasonal colour and enough variety to keep everyone happy. The lead rules are clear, the atrium means a quick shelter stop is possible and the forest itself gives a straightforward indoor welcome for a proper walk without the usual café-or-nothing compromise.
