The Beehive in Carlisle is one of those classic, easy-going pubs that does exactly what you want it to, with dogs welcome inside alongside their humans. It's built around that warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can drop in for a quick drink and very easily end up staying for food, sport or a full evening out.

Food is firmly in the proper pub camp, with everything from hearty classics to lighter options and small plates, plus menus that cater well for different diets including vegan and vegetarian choices. Behind the bar, you've got a strong mix of beers, ales and crowd-pleasers, alongside cocktails and seasonal drinks. Add in live sport, quizzes and regular events, and it leans into that lively, social pub energy without losing its relaxed core. There's also a beer garden for sunnier days and plenty of space for groups, families and casual drop-ins.

Dogs are warmly welcome too, with water bowls ready for thirsty post-walk visitors and even doggy ice cream on offer, which tends to make tails wag the second it's spotted arriving at the table. It turns the whole thing into a proper pub stop for both of you rather than a compromise.
