That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Just outside the centre of Cheltenham, Benhall Woods is one of those easy, everyday escapes — a mix of woodland paths and open park space that feels far enough from the city without actually being far at all.

It’s a simple kind of place, but that’s exactly the charm. You’ve got winding paths through trees, open areas for a bit of breathing room, and just enough variety to keep both you and the dog interested. It’s popular with locals for a reason — easy to get to, easy to walk, and always a good call when you need a reset.

There’s a relaxed, community feel here too. Dog walkers, families, and regulars all doing their thing, with that unspoken agreement that this is a shared, well-used space rather than a polished destination. Expect muddy patches after rain, a few well-trodden routes, and plenty of sniffing opportunities along the way.

And for dogs, this is exactly their kind of outing — smells, space, and the freedom to just wander (within reason).
