Beningbrough Hall is a National Trust Georgian country-house estate eight miles from York, with formal gardens, art galleries, a restaurant and plenty of space to wander with your dog. The estate opens daily from 10am, with the gardens, restaurant and shop welcoming visitors throughout the day.

Dogs are welcome in most of the garden and across the outdoor estate and they're allowed in selected areas of the restaurant so you can sit down together. They're not permitted inside the hall's historic rooms, the laundry or the wilderness play area, but there's more than enough ground to explore and enough green space to tire out even the keenest sniffer.

It's a proper National Trust day out within easy reach of the city, with free parking close to the visitor entrance and overflow space on the grassed avenue when the weather allows. Pre-booking is recommended, particularly during busy periods and school holidays.
