That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Bensley’s Homemade Ice Cream is one of those proper local finds that feels stitched into the Lincolnshire coast and countryside. Made in Grainthorpe and served across the area via vans, events and their base at Waltham Windmill, this is small-batch ice cream with a strong “we actually make this ourselves” energy.
The Waltham Windmill spot adds a bit of day-out magic to it all, with a railway carriage tearoom setup, hot drinks, cakes and simple food alongside the ice cream. It’s the kind of place where a quick stop quietly turns into a longer wander, especially with the windmill, museum and seasonal attractions nearby.
For dogs, there’s a lovely extra touch with treats from Copper Beach Dog Treats in North Cotes, so it’s not just humans getting something special. This leans more towards a relaxed, outdoorsy, “pause and reset” stop rather than a formal sit-down venue, but it absolutely earns its place on a dog-friendly day out.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Dog menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome to join you while you grab ice cream or a drink in the outdoor areas.
There are dog treats available too, which tends to make this a very successful stop from the dog’s point of view.
