Berrington Hall

Berrington Hall is a Georgian mansion set in sweeping parkland near Leominster, about 19 miles from Ludlow. While the house itself is off-limits to dogs, the estate welcomes them on leads across its parkland, courtyard and gardens, making it a generous half-day heritage outing when you want a proper walk with a bit of National Trust scenery.

The parkland is grazed by livestock, so leads are required throughout, but there's room for a good leg-stretch and your dog can join you in the main courtyard too. The converted stables tea-room area is dog-friendly, so you can grab a cup of tea without leaving them tied outside.

There's on-site parking and the grounds are open daily from 11am to 5pm. It's the sort of place where you can do the grand-house visit in shifts—one of you tours the mansion while the other does a lap of the parkland—and still feel like you've had a proper day out together.
