Berry Head Nature Reserve

Berry Head is a working national nature reserve on a managed headland just outside Torquay, where dogs are welcome to explore the outdoor paths, historic forts and bird-viewing areas. The reserve combines genuine conservation work with visitor facilities including a café and visitor centre, making it a proper day out rather than a quick circuit.

The headland itself is the real draw: panoramic views, accessible paths through grassland and coastal terrain and genuine wildlife-spotting potential. Dogs can tag along on leads or off-lead depending on the section—just watch for the on-site signs that indicate where livestock are present, as your dog may need to be kept on a lead in those areas.

Parking is available on-site (pay on exit) and the visitor centre is there when you need a warm drink or a sit-down between walks. It's the kind of place where dogs and humans alike can properly settle in for a morning or afternoon, not just a tick-box dog walk near Torquay.
