This is Berwick’s big history walk with views that make you stop mid-sentence. The site sits right beside Berwick railway station and the ramparts can be accessed from multiple points around town which means you can dip in and out rather than committing to one fixed route.
You are exploring the remains of the medieval castle plus the bastioned defences that wrap around the historic centre. Expect uneven surfaces and high edges in places so wear steady shoes and take your time. The payoff is a brilliant circuit of river and rooftops and coastline glimpses with plenty of photo spots. Check opening details before you go because access and hours can vary. It is an easy win if you want something distinctly Berwick without needing a full day of planning.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome. Keep them on a lead around steep drops and busy sections.

Seen this? It marks our Recommended Partners - places that go that bit further, so dogs feel properly welcome (and you can actually relax)
