Binham Priory is a substantial monastic ruin in the North Norfolk countryside, a short drive from Wells-next-the-Sea. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the ruins, making it a brilliant heritage stop for anyone whose day out needs to include the dog. The church itself – still in use as the Priory Church of St Mary and the Holy Cross – permits assistance dogs only, but the outdoor ruins offer plenty to explore on four paws.

The site includes medieval arches, crumbling walls and atmospheric remains that give a real sense of the scale of monastic life. There's a small car park accessed through the priory gatehouse and a café nearby for post-wander refreshments. The ruins are open during daylight hours with no booking required, so you can plan around morning sniff breaks or late-afternoon wanders without fuss.

It's a strong heritage option for those combining several North Norfolk history sites and the lead-friendly ruins mean you won't be stuck outside while your dog waits in the car. Straightforward access, proper parking and a clear dog policy make it an easy, rewarding stop.
