Blackmoor Copse

Blackmoor Copse is a managed woodland nature reserve about six miles southeast of Salisbury, known for its butterfly-rich habitat, wildflowers and open wetland character. Dogs are welcome on lead across the reserve and neighbouring White's Common, making it a peaceful spot for a gentle wander with the lead firmly in hand and perhaps a pair of wellies tucked in the boot.

The reserve is open at all times and free to enter, though access can be wet in places and the verge parking is limited rather than a dedicated car park. Spring and summer bring the best of the wildflowers and butterflies and the site is managed by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust with leaflets and maps available to help you explore.

Expect quiet woodland paths, ponds and seasonal colour rather than dramatic views or long loops. It's the sort of spot that rewards a slow potter and a dog who's happy to sniff, pause and take things at nature's pace.
