Brecon Basin is a recognised Canal & River Trust destination in the centre of Brecon, where the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal meets town-centre visitor facilities. You'll find trip boats, canal heritage and a working wharf open to the public year-round. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor basin area on leads.

There's room for a proper sniff around the waterside and towpath and the basin makes a calm starting or finishing point for longer canal walks. The canal network guidance encourages well-behaved dogs on leads and the open access means you and the dog can visit any time.

The Canal & River Trust notes pay-and-display parking nearby. Brecon Basin sits well for a short town-centre canal stop or as part of a longer towpath day out with the dog in mid Wales.
