That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Bruks is a cosy independent café with a friendly, local feel, built around comforting lunches, tasty treats and good drinks rather than flashy fanfare. It’s one of those easy York stops where the welcome matters as much as the menu, making it ideal for breakfast, lunch or a gentle reset between city wanderings. The independent spirit gives it a more personal feel than the chain-style alternatives, with a softer, homier charm that suits slower, linger-a-little pauses.
Dogs are warmly welcomed, with water bowls and treats ready, but it’s a small café so it works best with just a few dogs inside at a time (around three keeps things comfortable for everyone). It’s a thoughtful balance, keeping the cosy atmosphere intact while still making sure dogs feel very much part of the visit.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside. Calm café companions are very much the vibe, so keep paws grounded and cake-related optimism respectfully managed.
