Caerphilly Castle

Caerphilly Castle is one of Wales' largest and most impressive medieval fortresses and dogs on leads are welcome to explore the ground floor with you. That means the vast courtyard, the atmospheric great hall, the north dam platform and all ground-level routes are open to ordinary dogs, making this a genuinely dog-inclusive historic attraction rather than a grounds-only visit. The castle sits just outside Cardiff in Caerphilly, with its own pay-and-display parking on site and dedicated accessible spaces.

Open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Sunday, it's a practical stop for dog owners who want medieval history without leaving their dog in the car or tied outside. Upper floors, towers and staircases are assistance-dog only due to steep, narrow medieval stonework, so the experience is ground-level.

But that ground level is substantial: think echoing halls, defensive walls and centuries of story underfoot. Leads are required throughout and the whole visit is built for keeping you and your dog together from ticket to turret base.
