That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Café at the Cavern sits right at the entrance to Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park, making it the kind of place you naturally end up at after a woodland wander or cave explore. It’s relaxed, welcoming and built around that “you’ve earned this” feeling after a proper walk.

The menu leans into homemade, comforting food — think cakes, scones, light lunches and good coffee, with options for different diets and a focus on local produce. There’s indoor seating plus outdoor tables for sunnier days, so it works whatever the weather decides to do.

It’s less about rushing in and out, more about pausing for a bit — refuel, warm up, and let the day slow down before heading back out into the woods (or deciding you’ve done enough and staying put a bit longer).

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Treats available

Doggy Menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside Café at the Cavern and throughout the visitor centre, making it an easy stop before or after a walk or cave visit. Water bowls are available and dogs are expected to stay on a lead while inside.
