Camp House Inn

Camp House Inn is a Grade II listed, 17th-century riverside pub tucked down a quiet lane in Grimley, a few miles north of Worcester. Sitting right on the banks of the River Severn below Bevere Lock, it is a wonderfully unhurried countryside pub — and dogs are welcome inside, with water bowls and free treats available at the bar.

Inside, the atmosphere is properly traditional: small rooms, real ales, ciders and hearty homemade food served in the evenings. The pub is cash only, so it is worth planning ahead. On-site parking makes arrival easy, and the nearby Severn Way offers a good excuse to earn that pint first.

Peacocks wander the grounds, the river rolls past outside and the sort of afternoon that was meant to be a quick stop has a habit of stretching. With dogs settled under the tables and a genuinely warm welcome at the bar, it has all the ingredients of a proper old-fashioned riverside pub.
