Castell Coety

Castell Coety is a medieval castle ruin in the Bridgend area, within easy reach of Porthcawl. Dogs are welcome on site, making it a proper short heritage visit rather than just a walk-only stop. The castle offers ground-level visitor routes through the monument, though upper areas are closed for safety and the moat should be avoided.

The site is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00, 1 April to 31 March, with last admission thirty minutes before closing. It's closed 24–26 December and 1 January. There's one designated hard-standing parking space at the entrance; otherwise you'll be using the surrounding residential streets.

Dogs should stay in the accessible ground-level areas and follow all barriers and safety signage. Keep them away from vegetation and don't let them climb into restricted upper sections. It's the sort of visit where the lead stays on and the sniff route follows the official path, but you're together for the whole thing.
