Castle Ward is a National Trust estate near Bangor, with a heritage mansion, formal garden, shoreline trails, shop and Stableyard tea-room. Dogs on leads are welcome across the grounds and garden and the estate provides a designated off-lead exercise field near the admission hut and main car park, making it a genuinely useful day out for the whole pack.
The historic house is open to assistance dogs only, but your dog can join you in the shop and the Stableyard tea-room. The trails wind through parkland and along the shoreline, though leads are required throughout to keep everyone safe around grazing livestock, cyclists and families.
The estate opens daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with on-site parking at the main car park. Whether you're here for the architecture, the garden or simply a long sniff around the trails, this is a proper National Trust outing where your dog is genuinely welcome in the useful bits.
