That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Right on the banks of the River Dee and just a short walk from Chester's centre, Chester Boat is one of those spontaneous day-makers. No planning, no booking — just turn up, hop in, and head out onto the water. Dogs are welcome on board, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while the rest of the crew sets sail.

Boats are available to hire throughout the warmer months, weather and river conditions allowing, making it an easy add-on to a day in the city. One minute you're wandering along the river, the next you're drifting past it with a completely different view. It's all about keeping things simple: you set your own pace, take in the scenery, and let the city fade into the background for a bit.

There's a relaxed, holiday-like feel to the whole experience — low effort, high reward, and the kind of thing that turns a good day into a memorable one. Dogs can join you on the water, which means everyone gets the river views and nobody's left doing hopeful-nose duty on the towpath.
