That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Chichester Cathedral is one of the few historic cathedrals in England where ordinary dogs are genuinely welcome inside. During key visiting hours—Monday to Saturday 09:00–17:00 and Sunday 12:30–14:30—well-behaved dogs on leads can explore the Cathedral interior alongside their humans, as well as the grounds and the peaceful garden at Cloisters Kitchen & Garden.

This is a proper visitor day out in the heart of Chichester, offering medieval architecture, soaring stonework and a calm atmosphere that works beautifully for unhurried sniff-pace exploration. The leash-required policy keeps things respectful and the official welcome extends across meaningful parts of the site rather than just a corner of the car park.

Dogs are not permitted during events, when only assistance dogs are allowed, so it's worth checking ahead if you're planning a visit on a special occasion. There's no on-site visitor parking; the nearest public car park is East Pallant, about 0.3 miles away.

Dog Policy:
