Conwy Valley Railway Museum in Betws-y-Coed is a proper railway museum where dogs are welcome inside the museum building, on the miniature train rides and in the shop. It's a genuine day-out destination for railway fans and their four-legged companions, with exhibits, working locomotives and a ride that lets your dog join you on the tracks. The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Dogs can explore the museum alongside you and then hop aboard the miniature railway for an 8–10 minute ride through the landscaped grounds. Trains run every 15 minutes, subject to weather and season, with steam haulage on weekends and in summer. On-site parking is available and the museum sits right next to Betws-y-Coed railway station.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before the last train if you're planning a ride, as train times vary by season and weather. Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the visit, which keeps noses and paws pointed in roughly the right direction.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Free treats available
Doggy menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside the museum, on the miniature train rides and in the railway shop — leads on throughout, which is a small price for a proper dog-friendly day out on the tracks.
