Cregennan

Cregennan is a National Trust countryside destination set above Barmouth in the Mawddach estuary area, known for its lakes, geology and open views. Dogs are welcome on lead throughout the grounds and footpaths, making it a proper day out for those whose route-planning revolves around four legs and a strong opinion on sniffing time. The landscape here includes uneven, steep and sometimes boggy terrain with stiles in places, so it suits dogs comfortable with a bit of scrambling.

Wildlife and livestock are often present, which is why the lead rule matters. Open dawn to dusk every day, it's the sort of destination where you can stretch a walk as long as the weather holds.

There's a National Trust car park on site using JustPark for payment and member check-in and facilities include toilets. No indoor dog access is confirmed, but the outdoor interest alone makes it worth the trip if you're after lakes, rocks and the kind of quiet that only comes with altitude.
