Culloden is the historic battlefield just east of Inverness where the 1746 Jacobite Rising came to its bloody end. Today it's managed by the National Trust for Scotland as a major heritage attraction with an accredited museum, visitor centre, café, shop and guided tours across the moorland site.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the battlefield itself and inside the visitor centre shop and café, though not in the museum. From 1 April to 31 August dogs must stay on leads and keep to the main paths because of nesting birds and grazing animals; outside that window you'll still need close control but have a little more freedom to explore the memorials and clan markers scattered across the moor.

There's an official on-site car park open daily 8am to 6pm with accessible bays and pay-and-display for non-members. The visitor centre and shop open 9am to 5pm from March to early November, 9am to 4pm in winter, with the café closing half an hour earlier; the battlefield itself is open year-round.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome on the battlefield and in the visitor centre shop and café, but not in the museum. From 1 April to 31 August they must stay on leads and keep to main paths; at other times keep them under close control.
