Dark Hedges

The Dark Hedges is an iconic tree avenue near Ballycastle in North Antrim, famous for its dramatic beech canopy and Game of Thrones filming heritage. This outdoor site offers open-access walking through one of Northern Ireland's most photographed natural landmarks and dogs are welcome on leads along the avenue. Access is on foot only.

There's a designated car park adjacent to the entrance and visitors follow the signed pedestrian route onto the tree-lined stretch. The avenue itself is a short but striking outdoor stop, ideal for a quick sniff-and-photo session before moving on to nearby coastal walks or village explorations. Dogs should stay on leads throughout the avenue.

The site is outdoors only, with no indoor visitor facilities confirmed for dog access. It's best suited to a brief roadside visit rather than a full afternoon out, but the visual drama and film-location appeal make it a popular dog-friendly detour for tourists exploring the North Antrim coast.
