Dartington Estate near Torquay is a sprawling 1,200-acre country estate combining formal gardens, sculpture trails, woodland and managed grounds. The estate works as a proper day out rather than a quick park visit, with parking at the core estate and The Cider Press Centre, plus food facilities, events and visitor infrastructure throughout. Dogs are welcome on the estate grounds on lead, which means you can walk through the landscape and explore the wooded paths without leaving your dog behind.
The formal gardens exclude dogs except assistance dogs, but the grounds themselves are open to well-behaved pups in harness. Aller Park allows off-lead walking if your dog has reliable recall, giving you space to let them run.
Be mindful around the Deer Park and livestock areas; stay on public footpaths and avoid fields without a marked route. The combination of trails, open space and dog-friendly policy makes this a genuine half or full-day destination for anyone planning an outing around South Devon.
