Dinton Park and Philipps House

Dinton Park is a National Trust parkland near Salisbury where dogs are welcome year-round on leads. The estate surrounds the privately occupied Philipps House, a handsome neo-Grecian mansion built in the early 19th century that visitors view from the outside only. Livestock graze the fields, so close control keeps everyone safe and the welcome intact.

The parkland is open dawn to dusk every day, with free access to rough grassland, slopes and quiet corners for a proper sniff. There's a car park just off St Mary's Road, though space is limited and you're asked to return another time if it's full. Expect a kissing-gate entrance, some steps and uneven ground, so plan accordingly.

This is a straightforward, grounds-only outing that suits dogs who enjoy open space without crowds. The route is flexible, the air is fresh and the whole visit runs to the dog's pace rather than the other way round.
