Dirleton Castle

Dirleton Castle is a sprawling 13th-century ruin set within beautiful grounds and gardens just east of Edinburgh. The castle's historic walls, towers and open-air ruins make it a genuine day-out destination rather than a quick walk, with plenty to explore across the site. There's a public car park about 100m from the castle entrance.

Dogs are very welcome at Dirleton Castle and can join you throughout the castle grounds, gardens and open-air ruins on a lead. They're not permitted inside any roofed buildings, but that leaves most of the outdoor experience open to them. Assistance dogs are exempt from these restrictions.
