The Dog & Partridge Country Inn sits just outside Ashbourne on the Derbyshire–Staffordshire border, right where Peak District walking country begins to stretch its legs. It’s the kind of proper countryside pub where muddy boots, wagging tails, and post-walk hunger all arrive together.

Inside, the traditional bar leans into cosy pub energy with real ales, hearty classics, and a log fire in winter. Dogs are welcome in the bar dining area, so your walking companion can snooze under the table while you tackle something comforting from the pub menu. Expect traditional favourites, local specialities, and the sort of generous portions that make a long walk feel justified.

Step outside and you’re surrounded by open countryside with walking routes in every direction, making this a natural refuel stop after Peak District exploring. It’s very much a “one more drink while the dog finishes their nap” kind of place.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside in the bar dining area, where muddy paws, sleepy flops, and hopeful roast-dinner staring are all part of the atmosphere.
