Down By The Ferry is one of those perfectly placed Padstow stops where the name does exactly what it says on the tin. Set by the Padstow ferry area, it is ideal for a coffee, cake, ice cream or easy pause before or after a wander around the harbour, a stroll along the Camel Estuary, or a ferry hop across to Rock. Tripadvisor reviews regularly mention its coffee, cakes and friendly feel, which gives it that “quick stop that becomes part of the day” energy.
Dogs are welcome inside, which makes it especially handy in Padstow, where weather, tides and busy little harbour streets can all change the plan within five minutes. There are two big water bowls outside for thirsty dogs, and dog ice cream is available too, so four-legged visitors are not just tagging along while the humans get the good stuff.
It is a simple, cheerful coastal stop: coffee for the humans, water bowls for the dogs, and the dangerous possibility that everyone ends up slightly sandy, slightly sticky, and very pleased with themselves.
