That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Dr Foster is a dog-friendly pub and restaurant set right on Gloucester Docks, making it a strong stop for brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks, or a post-walk pint by the water. It has that all-day kind of usefulness: coffee and brunch earlier on, classic pub food and seasonal dishes later, then beers, real ales and cocktails when the day starts leaning towards “just one more.”

The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting too. You’re in the heart of the docks, close to Gloucester Quays, waterside walks, historic warehouses, and plenty of visitor footfall, so it works just as well for locals as it does for people exploring Gloucester with the dog in tow.

Dogs are genuinely part of the setup here too, with water bowls available, free doggy snacks, and plenty of doggy beds for tired paws to sink into while the humans handle the serious business of food, drinks, and “maybe one more.”

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome at Dr Foster in the downstairs bar area, quayside, courtyard and conservatory. Dogs should be well behaved, kept on the floor, and settled comfortably while visiting. Water bowls are available, dog treats are kept behind the bar, and comfy dog beds are provided too.
