Dubwath Silver Meadows is a wetland nature reserve at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake, a short drive north of Cockermouth. Dogs on leads are welcome to join you on the paths and boardwalks, where you can settle into the hides and seats to watch the ground-nesting birds, deer and other wildlife that call this working farm area home. It's open all year round, so you can visit whenever the weather or the mood strikes.

The reserve asks that dogs stay on lead at all times to protect nesting birds and other wildlife and that you stick to the paths and boardwalks. Deep water may be present in places, so steady leads and watchful eyes are useful here.

There's no dedicated car park on site, but the official guidance suggests parking considerately near the reserve. It's a proper outdoor day out for patient dogs and the people who follow their lead.
