Dunollie Museum, Castle & Grounds is a proper half-day visitor destination just outside Oban, combining a dramatic ruined castle, the 1745 House Museum and a network of trails through coastal woodland. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the outdoor areas, including the castle ruin itself and the grounds, making it an unusually dog-inclusive historic attraction. There's an on-site visitor car park and most visitors spend two to three hours exploring the site.

The castle ruin is open to the air and fully accessible with your dog, while the trails offer sniff-friendly exploration through mature woodland with coastal views. Dogs are also welcome in the outdoor seating area of the on-site café, so you can pause for refreshments together without splitting up. Dogs aren't allowed inside the 1745 House Museum, Draper's Shop or Loom Room, but the outdoor access is generous and the castle itself is the main draw.

The site is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm and closed Mondays. Tickets can be bought online or on arrival and guided tours run Tuesday to Friday at 11.30am and 2pm.
