Engine Shed Museum

Engine Shed Museum is a railway museum and event venue at Aberystwyth station, home to the Vale of Rheidol Railway's substantial collection and seasonal family events. Dogs are welcome on the railway site and aboard the heritage trains, making this a genuinely dog-friendly day out on the Ceredigion coast.

You'll need to book a dog ticket and first-class carriages are assistance-dogs only, but the rest of the railway is open to your four-pawed travel companion. The museum runs seasonal events inside the Engine Shed and ordinary pet dogs are welcome on the attraction site throughout the operating season.

Opening hours vary by timetable—the railway typically runs daily from late March to early November, with closing times between 4.30pm and 5.30pm depending on the day, then scaled-back hours through to the end of November. There's a dedicated railway car park off Park Avenue and Boulevard St Brieuc with level access to the booking office and platform, so you can go straight from car to ticket desk to track without juggling the lead too many times.
