Fairbourne Railway is a narrow-gauge heritage railway running along the coast near Barmouth, with a ferry link across the Mawddach estuary. Dogs are welcome on the trains and on the ferry crossing, making it a proper seaside day out you can share with your four-paws. The railway operates on seasonal timetable days, with trains running between stations and the ferry connecting to Barmouth when weather permits from Easter to the end of October.

Dogs travel on the Day Rover fare on the trains and the ferry charges £2 per dog per crossing. Each train has one dog-free carriage and dogs aren't allowed in First Class.

It's a straightforward visit for calm travellers—no need to book ahead, just turn up on an operating day and buy your tickets. The combination of heritage steam, coastal scenery and the ferry hop makes it a memorable outing, especially if your dog enjoys watching the world go by from a carriage window.
