A traditional village pub in Horncliffe just outside Berwick that feels like a proper countryside detour. It serves seasonal pub food with ingredients sourced from local suppliers and it keeps a classic welcoming atmosphere rather than trying to be trendy. It is a good choice if you want a quieter pint and a meal after a day exploring Berwick’s streets and sea air.

There are also B&B rooms which makes it useful for a slower paced stay in the surrounding area. As with many historic pubs the building has its quirks so factor that in if mobility is a concern. Check their current opening patterns and any kitchen closure dates before travelling because seasonal changes do happen.
